She is a very sociable alpaca within the herd, and can always be found in the middle of the group, surrounded by all of her friends. She’s by far one of the most cheeky alpacas on the farm and uses her beauty to get away with it! Whenever our staff are trying to do any jobs, Belle insists on being involved, whether it be stealing pens out of their hands, pinching paper from the clipboard, or knocking over bottles of vitamins. Despite her mischievous ways, she is incredibly friendly and confident and enjoys being the center of attention in any situation. She can usually be found right next to the hay, getting all of the best bits! Our Care & Ownership day follows the HEART acronym and will give you the confidence to treat and care for your own alpacas. HEART Health, Environment, Analysis, Responsibilities, Training and treatment. During the day we visit various fields and run you through paddock layout and maintenance. Whilst in one of our alpaca fields we will work together to herd and move the alpacas. The course consists of catching, haltering and walking an alpaca, learning how to body score, the importance of alpaca weights, checking & trimming toenails and much more! This includes all ages and abilities. We cannot allow spectators on the experience. This experience is a physical activity which involves walking up hills and over uneven terrain. You must be capable of walking at a pace that keeps up with the rest of the group without putting a strain on your health so please consider this before attending the experience. When bringing young children, adults must feel confident that their child can walk the whole distance of this experience. If they cannot, you must bring a sling or a carrier as we cannot authorise pushchairs on our experiences and cannot allow you to carry your child as you must have both hands on the rein of the alpaca at all times (see the Accessibility section in the Terms & Conditions). If you’re pregnant please be aware that we are a working farm with live animals. We therefore have natural bacteria and parasites which in some circumstances may be harmful to a pregnancy.
