Welcome to Charnwood forest alpacas

Charnwood Forest Alpacas is located in Boundary, a hamlet nestled on the Leicestershire
and Derbyshire border and situated on the outskirts of Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Our 110 acre farm at Charnwood Forest Alpacas is one of the first, original and largest alpaca farms open to the public in the UK.

CALMs Education

As a wonderfully gentle, docile and non-aggressive animal, alpacas make excellent companions to children and adults with special needs. CALMs, or Cognitive Alpaca Learning Methods is a programme available to children and young people with Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s and other behavioural, social or learning difficulties. After seeing how relaxed and joyful so many people are after spending time with alpacas, Chris became passionate about CALMs and it’s potential to help improve behaviour, focus and self-esteem among participants. He leads all of our CALMs sessions with a gentle, yet assertive approach, and finds his work with children and young people incredibly rewarding.

Were passionate about helping grow the alpaca community and encouraging others to dive into the world of these beautiful animals! Our Alpaca Care & Ownership days are designed to help you prepare yourself to be an alpaca owner and learn all about alpaca welfare so you can keep your herd safe, healthy and happy! Over the course of the day, you’ll receive training and guidance from members of our team with years of specialised experience caring for alpacas. If you’re interested in becoming part of the alpaca community, this is a great opportunity to get you off on the right foot!
